KAPPAD BEACH, KOZHIKODE


A view to the Beach


Kappad is a small coastal village in Calicut district of Kerala state.The Kappad beach is famous for it tidiness and beauty. It is a major picnic spot in Calicut district which attracts the foreigners and the local people.Every day many tourists are visiting and enjoying the charming beauty of the beach.A resort named 'Renaissance' is close to the beach which gives accomodation and other facilities for the tourists.
Kappad beach is a beach of historic importance. The Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama has first arrived at this coast in India.He arrived here at may27,1498.A small monument has been kept here in memory of this moment with an inscription - "Vasco da Gama landed here, Kappakadavu, in the year 1498".




How to reach there


Kappad beach is about 18km Kozikode(Calicut) town. A small road from Thiruvangoor, along the Kannur road leads to this beach.
